Scoot and Shoot raises money for Metro’s Honor Guard
Las Vegas, NV — Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s honor guard has one of the most difficult and important roles on the department. And Saturday, you can help them fulfill their mission to honor our fallen officers.
This is the second year for the Scoot and Shoot event. Last year they had no idea 400 riders would show up. It’s a fun way to raise money, but it’s never about the dollars.
Captain Richard Fletcher says these guys only care about one thing: Giving our fallen officers the respect they deserve.
“Most people don’t see what we do day in and day out. They don’t see the pain. The Tragedy. They may only see the bad things. But when we do lose an officer we feel that pain collectively.”
This is the second year in a row our honor guard has needed to go to Washington to add a local officer’s name to the memorial.
Last year, they honored officer David Vanbuskirk. This year, they will give officers Igor Soldo and Alan Beck the high honor. The two officers were ambushed on their lunch break.
The Scoot and Shoot fundraiser is this Saturday. You can register at Red Rock Harley on West Sahara Avenue any time between 8 and 10am. $ 40 bucks a rider. $ 20 bucks for passengers. Money is tax deductible and goes to support Metro’s honor guard.
