Road rage victim’s family returns all donation income after facing criticism
Las Vegas, NV — The family of Tammy Meyers says they’ve decided to refund almost $ six,000 in donations and close down their GoFundMe web page following harsh criticism from folks who believe the loved ones withheld vital information in their description of the road rage altercation.
One donor posted, “I am reporting it to GoFundMe. So a lot of lies from the family members.”
One more wrote, “Do not give your income to these thugs till you study what we know in the news.”
The backlash comes following police revealed new info on Tuesday regarding the events that led up to Tammy Meyers’ death.
The page’s original post study, “The suspects followed Tammy and her daughter home and opened fire.” Police later reported the suspects did not adhere to Tammy and her daughter home. In truth, Tammy reportedly left the scene and dropped off her daughter, just before heading back out with her armed adult son.
Officers think they followed the suspect vehicle, but turned away and had been followed back to their home, exactly where she was shot in the head. Police said the son exchanged in crossfire.
On Wednesday, the victim’s family confirmed that Meyers’ husband posted a Facebook statement that read, in component, “At this time I have shut down the GoFundMe account that I didn’t commence, a pal did. Every person will get donations returned. I never ever said something various than told. If all you folks think I was a fraud and lied about details, I am genuinely sorry. I only ever said what was told to me.”
The family stated folks were posting negative comments about the victim. They sent Action News a screen grab of a post with racist and hateful content material.
