NHP: Separate crashes kill 2 in rural Nye County

The first fatal accident on November 4 occurred near the Gabbs community around 4:43 p.m. Monday along Nevada Highway 361. The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating the separate fatal accidents that occurred within half an hour of each other in rural Nye County earlier this week, closing the trip for hours in both regions.

The crash was a frontal collision that stopped traffic in both directions. No names were released. The cause and circumstances of the accident were not immediately known.
The Reno-TV KTVN Channel 2 station reported that the accident involved a car and a truck, and that a person was taken by a CareFlight medical helicopter to a hospital.
The scene was cleared around 2:33 a.m. on Tuesday, the Nevada Department of Transportation reported.
The second unrelated fatal accident occurred along US Highway 95 between Beatty and Goldfield.
That accident was reported around 5:09 p.m. in the northbound travel lane. The victim’s name and information about what led to the accident were not immediately known.
The accident closed traffic in both directions on the highway that connects the Las Vegas and Reno regions.
“Expect great delays,” the NHP said in a tweet.
At 3:05 a.m. on Tuesday, NDOT reported on Twitter that the scene had been cleared.
