Man sentenced in Las Vegas Strip car jacking, murder of two
Las Vegas, NV — It was a packed court house as two families have just learned the punishment for the man who admitted to killing their loved ones during a car jacking on the Las Vegas Strip.
James Montgomery was just sentenced to life, with the possibility of parole at 20 years.
The August 2013 carjacking was captured on surveillance camera at the valet outside of the Flamingo Las Vegas.
Police say, the truck’s owner, Brandon Cruz, was in the bed of the pick-up, when Montgomery jumped in to steal it.
The owner’s brother in law, off-duty CHP officer Jessie Magdaleno jumped in to help.
Montgomery didn’t stop until the truck crashed, killing both Cruz and Magdaleno.
Montgomery already accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to two counts of second degree murder.
He must serve at least 20 years before he’s eligible for parole.
