Las Vegas, NV — Nearly six months after she was killed in a DUI accident the family of a 28-year-old Las Vegas woman paused to remember her Satuday night.
Jennie Bergstrom’s older brother and cousin stopped out here near the scene of the September 9th accident at Windmill and 215 to set up a memorial to the 28 year old.
“She had such a great love for life. She was always smiling, wanting to help other people. Just a great all American girl,” John Bergstrom said.
John Bergstrom left flowers and candles alongside pictures of his sister.
He was in town for the DUI trial of the driver who was going the wrong way when he hit Bergstrom head on killing her.
Jorge Paz-Herrera pleaded guilty on the day the trial was scheduled to begin.
The family says it was a relief to not sit through the trial, but say they will be back for his sentencing.. Where they plan to ask for the maximum penalty.
“This isn’t the first time. And he hasn’t learned his lesson and my sister the innocent one ends up losing her life and his family can still see him,” Bergstrom said.
Paz-Herrera is scheduled to be sentenced on April 29th.
