Family holds vigil for man shot by Nevada Highway Patrol on I-15

Las Vegas, NV — A vigil was held on Saturday evening outside of Nevada Highway Patrol’s headquarters for a man who was shot by a NHP officer on Nov. 1.

Much more than a hundred buddies and family members members gathered to honor 22-year-old John Wilson III with a night of songs and prayer.

Wilson was walking along Interstate 15 with what appeared to be an assault rifle.

He was shot throughout a confrontation with NHP.

His family says that Wilson was carrying a pellet gun and not an assault rifle and they want justice for the shooting.

They have asked for much more transparency in the investigation of the shooting.

NHP says they are nonetheless searching into the shooting, and really feel they owe the loved ones and the public a thorough investigation.

They say after that approach is total they will release the specifics of the investigation.
